Caritas Internationalis
is a confederation of 154 Catholic relief, development and
social service organisations present in 198 countries and
territories.
The Caritas mission is to spread solidarity and social justice
throughout the world. We draw our inspiration from Christian
Scripture, tradition and the social teaching of the Church,
as well as the lived experience of those we serve.
Our members work to create a world in which the dignity of
the human person is paramount, and in which exclusion, discrimination,
violence, intolerance and dehumanising poverty are no more.
Headquartered in Vatican City, Caritas Internationalis supports
its members by:
- Providing a forum for dialogue and exchange
among member organisations to share ideas, learn from each
other and support each other's efforts.
- Helping member organisations build their
own capacity in order to serve the poor and marginalised
more effectively.
- Acting as a voice or advocate for the
cause of the poor and enabling the poor to be their own
advocates.
- Facilitating cooperation within and beyond
the Caritas Confederation.
